The design for the State Garden Show thematically ties in with the existing qualities and potential of the location. The reference to water, which has a special significance in the history of the town of Furth im Wald, is made tangible again as an essential quality of the location. Flanked by the Chamb and crossed by the Kalten Pastritz, water is a defining element in the townscape. In order to strengthen this, both rivers will be ecologically upgraded according to contemporary requirements and selectively renaturalised to give them space again. In addition to an ecologically continuous green corridor, two islands will be created, the Pastritzinsel and the Chambinsel. Flattened banks and architectural accents allow direct access to the water.
LOCATION
Continuous pathways along the Kalten Pastritz and the Chamb make the water space accessible again and bring it back into the city’s consciousness as a central recreational space with a high ecological function.
CONTRASTS
Architectural interactions and urban planning approaches gently blend into the natural river and meadows, creating an exciting contrast.
